We have been in the business since 1950
Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st was founded as a Mattress Manufacturing Company in 1950 by the Redman family. Today, Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st is a third generation service business which is owned by a Maine born, raised, and educated family.
The original Northern Mattress Co. closed in March of 2007. In November of that same year, Priceless Mattress & Furniture was opened by Karen Lee Redman at 16 Western Avenue, Augusta, Maine. Karen Lee’s husband Peter worked at the original Northern Mattress Co. factory.
In August 2010 the Redman family decided to pay homage to their founding by combining Priceless Mattress & Furniture with Northern Mattress Co., becoming Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st. Today, Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st operates three locations in Central Maine.
